Abstract

During Phase I Space Micro successfully demonstrated, on a commercial SDR evaluation board, a Spectrum Aware Wideband Interference Rejector (SA-WIR) that nullifies undesired intermodulation distortion caused by strong in-band interferers over the whole HF (2-30MHz) band. Our SA-WIR module is highly reconfigurable and can be programmed in real-time via software for different waveforms, bandwidths and frequencies thus it can be embedded in any USSOCOM Special Mission Radio System (SMRS) radio product. Such a block is absolutely required and serves multiple purposes in a dense signal environment. In Phase II, Space Micro will implement, test and evaluate, supported by Entropix LLC, the SA-WIR concept on the existing AN/TRQ-43 V2 HF Base Station platform. Space Micro will bring the algorithm to a Technology Readiness Level 7 and demonstrate that the effect of high power interferers will be adaptively nullified by the WIR block before the signal of interest is demodulated. The spectrum aware WIR block enhances the radio performance bringing it to a whole other level and should be an essential part of it regardless of the Radio Frequency (RF) circuitry and/or the application.
