Abstract

Across the nation, school buses drive our kids to and from school, in rural, suburban, and large cities – all having the same problem: safely transporting school children. This proposal calls out (1) there is no school bus V2X solution that exists in any meaningful scalable way today (2) there is no readily available solution to solve for school children being struck during evening hours when visibility is low. It's not just school buses that have struckby issues, in fact, the biggest death and injury rate for police, fire, ems, towing, and construction is struckbys. Our team has built solutions with proven outcomes using V2X technologies and optical systems to prevent struck by vehicles in these markets. We propose phase I to experiment with these solutions to determine the best solution for children while being transported by bus.
