Abstract

SI2 Technologies, Inc. (SI2) proposes to build a radar detector and locator system integrated with the existing warfighter uniform to increase soldier lethality by enabling undetected maneuvering in the presence of hostile radar surveillance. This system alerts to the presence and direction of Ground Surveillance Radar (GSR) or Battlefield Surveillance Radar (BSR) at distances beyond maximum radar detection ranges, while fusion of data from multiple personnel reduces shadowing from structures and generates finer resolution for the radar location to enable further action against threat radar sites. During Phase I, SI2 will build on prior flexible antenna system experience to design and fabricate antennas and electronics that are compatible with integration into the battle uniform of the soldier. We will also update the Angle of Arrival (AoA) algorithms to operate with the antenna topology developed. SI2 will test the antennas and electronics to demonstrate compatibility with mounting within the soldier’s uniform while meeting the system requirements to detect, identify, and locate the hostile radar signal. SI2’s innovative solution will provide the US Army, other DoD sectors, and interested parties, with a system to detect, classify, and locate GSR and BSR installations before the radars can detect the soldiers.
