RTSync Corp. and WarpIV technologies have each performed research to evolve different and complementary aspects of a Model Level Integrated Simulation Architecture. The RTSync team, employed the Discrete Event System Specification (DEVS) formalism and the existing RTSync owned Modeling and Simulation environment (MS4 Me) to base the architecture design on a firm system theoretical and computationally supported composition framework. The resulting Collaborative Development for Model Level Integrated Simulation Architecture (CAMLI) exhibits essential properties of ease of model integration, model composability and simulation generated data collection and retrieval. WarplV’s parallel discrete-event and real-time simulation engine enables high performance execution of complex systems such as multi-stage, long-range missiles carrying multiple warheads, surface engagement, and space integrated science missions. The objectives of the proposed joint research project include to enable DEVS models constructed in CAMLI to be executed easily and efficiently on the WarpIV simulation capabilities as well as allowing such DEVS-compliant models to interoperate with WarplV independently derived components. The planned research is to characterize the class of models supported by the Warp IV simulator sufficiently to enable DEVS models to be executed on the simulator, design CAMLI integration with WarpIV, develop models/cases for WarpIV to enable testing of DEVS model execution in WarpIV, optimize the execution of DEVS models in parallel simulation and evaluate the resulting simulation performance. In addition, the objectives of the digital engineering implementation and integration research are the development of Bidirectional SysML / DEVS model mapping architecture and expansion of Model Library and V&V Meta-data capabilities previously developed. Finally, we seek to test development of relevant simulation using Bidirectional SysML / DEVS model mapping within the scope of developing a representation for use in a program of record. To do so, we will leverage modeling experience derived from support of the United States Space Force (USSF) Test and Evaluation digital engineering initiative.
