Abstract

The objective of this effort is to develop countermeasures for high energy lasers and/or high power microwave weapons systems  with  application of coatings technologies. The goal is to develop specific coatings for any U.S. weapon system, or systems, to improve the survivability characteristics of aircraft, to provide protection and maintain established performance capabilities when attacked by High Energy, Directed Energy Weapons (DEW), with minimal time to employ, apply, conduct maintenance on, or avoid cost or have significant performance system impacts.  The research further exploits artificial intelligence algorithms to improve coatings as well as develop multiple methods for applying the coatings.
