Abstract

Research, development, and experiment program that develops, designs, fabricates, integrates, tests, and demonstrates a novel wideband multi-channel transport cabling technology to be integrated with Gallium Nitride transmit/receive (T/R) Module development. This initiative exploits and extends Phase I achievements to enhance radar performance, reliability, operability and cost effectiveness. Approach replaces separate cables, wires and associated connectors with a single multipurpose RAMP-CableT that provides electric power, control and data signals, and RF signals to a sub-array of T/R modules simultaneously. Research objectives are: 1) improve transmission efficiency from dc through X-band; 2) reduce cross channel interference (coupling); 3) integrate interconnect devices for direct link of RAMP-CableT to T/R modules; 4) design, fabricate, test, and demonstrate RAMP-Cable T prototype with an active radar. Performance specifications will be developed for Phase III prototypes for MDA and other commercial applications to conduct assessment of performance, reliability, transmission efficiency, crosstalk, physical attributes, and life cycle cost.
