Abstract

Coordination of spatially-separated vehicles and test articles during testing and training exercises generates a requirement for closely-matched timing at each location to provide data and event correlation. The use of Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers for timing as well as positioning information greatly increases the accuracy of the data as well as reduces the effort (and cost) of correlating data. SVS has developed a data acquisition system which currently accomplishes many of the requirements set forth within this SBIR task. A thorough review of specifications would be required to determine design changes necessary to meet the customer's requirements. The major technical problems associated with minimizing data band-width, insuring synchronous counter latching, and time multiplexing the data into telemetry signals have been solved. Our energies could therefore be focused on meeting the specific needs of this customer and integrating this capability into the necessary systems.
