Abstract

Developing a set of tools that is automated, integrated, and compliant with the deired goals of this SBIR is not a simple task. If a coordinated approach is not taken from the start, then a hodgepodge of tools and capabilities for a hodgepodge of environments wil be developed with unwanted outcome of falling short of the desired goals. Therefore, SYNETICS proposes to establish a CASE-like environment under which HLA Federations can be planned, designed, developed, certified, and checked prior to execution. This environment, referred to as the Computer-Aided Federation Development Environment (CAFDE), will be structured to establish a common environment from which plug-and-play tools may be developed and easily integrated. CAFDE will include a standard HMI look and feel for all tools to be considered for inclustion, published application interface (AI) and data exchange formats (DEFs) between the tools and CAFDE, and a common CAFDE database enting for storage, retrieval, and sharing of information between the integrated tools. The CAFDE concept is similar to that of today's fully integrated software development environments.
