Abstract

Uni-Pixel Displays, Inc. is developing a technology that can be applied to the needs of the DMT visual system requirements. Uni-Pixel is developing a patented display technology (Time Multiplexed Optical Shutter - TMOS) that will provide both enhancedproperties that far surpass current display technology as well as unique properties that allow its custom application to the DMT visual requirements. Uni-Pixel?s TMOS technology will provide superior performance far exceeding current flat panel displaytechnologies in the areas of brightness, contrast, extended color gamut, and resolution. The theoretical limits of TMOS display technology is estimated at 1,000dpi, however, human perception is practically limited to approximately 300dpi. Uni-Pixel willdemonstrate the feasibility of this solution through advanced simulation utilizing 3D modeling technology. The Phase I effort provides a set of models that are crucial to laying a solid foundation of detailed technical specifications for the developmentof high resolution TMOS prototype displays in Phase II. The information obtained from the Phase I modeling effort will provide specific information on the required materials properties, layer thickness and feature resolution that becomes the basis forconstruction of functional high-resolution prototypes. This technology is also applicable to solicitations AF03-042 and AF03-054. Uni-Pixel is currently developing its'''' TMOS flat panel display technology for many different applications in thecommercial market, from cell phones, to PDAs, to computers, to TVs. Most of these applications do not require ultra-high resolution displays. The enhancement of the basic TMOS display architecture to provide ultra-high resolution displays will openadditional market opportunities in medical and military applications.
