Abstract

The Defense Modeling & Simulation Office (DMSO) is in the process of defining a common technical framework for modeling and simulation to promote interoperability and reuse, and has established the High-Level Architecture (HLA) to which all DoD simulation must conform. This decree has led to the need for a modular data management system capable of passively collecting data from an HLA federation and providing a rapid reduction and analyiss capability of federate and federation data. Virtual Technology Corporation (VCT) proposes to meet these needs by designing a component based suite of data collection and analysis tools. The componenets include an extensible object oriented data management framework, template based FOM parser, standard database independent interfaces, and tools for information analysis. These tools will allow for the reconstruction of an entire federation exercise, synthesize distributed recorded data, and provide the decomposition of the data into significant activities for replay and analysis.
