Abstract

WaveBand Corporation proposes to develop a new type of reduced size flexible or rigid antennas that can be mounted on the web gear or the vest of a tactical user. The requirements of both omni-directional and directional antennas as well as of multibandoperation will be satisfied within a fractal design approach. Based on the antennas, a system for directional and direction finding operations will be designed and then fabricated and implemented in Phase II. We anticipate a possible extension of theproposed concept to combine the benefits of fractal antennas with some electronic beam steering options. Low cost reduced-size antennas have a large number of civilian and dual-use applications in the realm of RF and microwave antennas, devices, andsystems for communications and signal collection needed in the broadband communications market.
