Abstract

The purpose of the present effort is to provide a capability to the Joint Standard Instrumentation Suite (JSIS) for the characterization of ultraviolet atmospheric scattering in order to better determine the impact of atmospheric absorption/scattering on missile signatures.A working prototype of the Characterization of Off-axis Direct and Ultraviolet Scatter (CODUS) instrument will be built and demonstrated.The resulting CODUS system will improve the current live fire testing process by providing expanded and enhanced data acquisition accuracy and capability, significantly reduced turnaround time, and streamlined operation for the end user.The end result will be innovative technology that is inserted into the JSIS system architecture.
