CoSense: Next Generation National Security Sensor Network Architecture

Amount: $74,343   Topic: AFX245-PCSO1

In a 3 month period of performance CHAOS will identify the most impactful areas for leveraging their proprietary breakthrough in time synchronization to enhance the effectiveness and resilience of sensor and communication networks for JADC2 and other sensor based mission areas relevant to the Digital, C3IN, and Agile Combat Support requirements portfolios. Impacts of enhanced sensing are pervasive, and currently most sought after within Air Combat Command and the COCOMs. CHAOS has developed proprietary software algorithms for precision time synchronization. CHAOS has productized this capability into a field tested multi-static radar system, and is currently optimizing this product for commercial sales partners in the oil and gas, geothermal, and mining industries, in addition to commercial air traffic identification. Applications are wide-ranging and profound in offering the technical advantaged needed to bring true situational awareness to operational leaders and to the battlefield. ???????

Advanced Multi-Static Radar Capability

Amount: $1,232,488   Topic: AFX244-DPCSO1

In 21 months, Chaos 1, Inc. (Chaos) will deliver a multi-static radar system demonstration optimized to meet the specific needs of the 96th test wing and their requirement to retain custody on all test articles in the Eglin Gulf Test Range.á Chaos is a US-only, non-traditional, venture-backed technology firm that has developed proprietary software algorithms for precision time synchronization that allow for unique enhancements in various applications including radar technology. áThis unique algorithm includes a new ôcoherent data layerö which enhances sensing capability and signal processing output. This layer adds an extra dimension, which enhances the value creation of a network. The result of applying this technology to fundamental signal processing for a wide range of sensor-based applications is an entirely new sensing capability and order of magnitude performance improvements. Chaos has coupled this breakthrough approach to time synchronization and data processing to leverage small form factor hardware in an array, creating a digital, frequency agile radar through Software Defined Radios (SDRs). Chaos has designed its demonstrative radar system using readily available COTS hardware and has successfully detected low-observable objects at 70 km round trip bi-static range. This range of our subscale demonstrator matches our physics model precisely, such that the model predicts ranges of up to 300 - 500 km for our full-scale product. Chaos is currently optimizing this product for commercial sales partners in the oil and gas, geothermal, and mining industries, in addition to commercial air traffic identification. áChaos is a venture backed company that has raised over $90M in investment dollars. Lead investors include top rated venture capital funds and family offices including, but not limited to, 8VC, Alpha Wave Global, Tamarack Global, Valar Ventures, and Lerner Enterprises.á
