Award Data
The Award database is continually updated throughout the year. As a result, data for FY24 is not expected to be complete until March, 2025.
Download all SBIR.gov award data either with award abstracts (290MB)
or without award abstracts (65MB).
A data dictionary and additional information is located on the Data Resource Page. Files are refreshed monthly.
The SBIR.gov award data files now contain the required fields to calculate award timeliness for individual awards or for an agency or branch. Additional information on calculating award timeliness is available on the Data Resource Page.

High Power Single Frequency Source for Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy
SBC: Aculight Corporation Topic: N/ANIST is using a sensitive optical technique called cavity ring-down detection to permit detection of impurities in semiconductor process gases, which cause substantial losses in manufacturing yield. In order to increase the sensitivity and range of application of this technique, improved single frequency laser sources are required. In particular, lasers providing more power, narrower line-width, b ...

Developing Novel Rice Cultivars with Improved Processing Properties
SBC: Anawah, Inc. Topic: N/ARice bran spoils rapidly because the oils become rancid due to the activity of particular lipase enzymes. Thus rice bran, though an abundant by-product of milling, has little value. Our project may lead to improved rice varieties that have bran that is less prone to spoilage.

Probiotic System for Bivalve Shellfish Aquaculture- Phase II
SBC: AquaTechnics, Inc. Topic: N/AMarine fish, shrimp and shellfish are produced from marine hatcheries and nurseries but, to date, the inevitable bacterial colonization of these systems has been an uncontrolled variable. Proposed Phase II research builds on very promising Phase I laboratory studies showing that beneficial (probiotic) bacteria improved the survival rate of oyster larvae from commercial hatcheries by a highly stati ...

Advanced Vision & Position Acquisition System (AVPAS)
SBC: B.E. Meyers & Co. Inc. Topic: SOCOM04005B.E. Meyers & Company proposes to deliver the Phase I requirements of the AVPAS by utilizing its research and development resources to examine new technologies, architectures, and designs. These efforts will result in providing to the government the market research, proof-of-concept analysis, and a proposed design for an AVPAS prototype. The prototype design will be founded on incremental testin ...

Phase II: Estimation of Fish Biomass and Size in Aquaculture Pens Using Digital Echosounding
SBC: Biosonics, Inc. Topic: N/AAssessment of biomass and fish size in aquaculture is needed for a number of reasons, including: 1. Determining feed rates according to the number and size of fish in each pen. 2. Appraisal of growth rates and food conversion factors. 3. Inventory of fish required by banks and insurance companies. 4. Early detection of fish losses. 5. Determining proper dosages for the treatment of disease. Curren ...

Improved Fruit Juice Concentration Process
SBC: COMPACT MEMBRANE SYSTEMS, INC. Topic: N/ANo simple/convenient process exists to concentrate wine without developing a burnt taste. This program develops the osmotic distillation process to concentrate wine at room temperature. Osmotic distillation enhances dewatering approximately 10-fold and in so doing makes the process economically attractive.

Enhanced Control of Fruit Ripening
SBC: COMPACT MEMBRANE SYSTEMS, INC. Topic: N/AEthylene is a growth hormone for plants and therefore, removal of ethylene plays an important part in maintaining the freshness of plants, especially fruits and flowers. Ethylene is generated by the fruits themselves, and is therefore a self-ripening component. In shipping of fruits and vegetables there is a great deal of effort that goes into controlling the atmosphere around the fruits and veget ...

Development of a Device to Cost Effectively Produce Bluegrass Seed Without Field Burning or Tillage
SBC: Diamond-S Farms, Inc. Topic: N/AThe traditional dryland farming method for growing and harvesting bluegrass seeds uses open-field grass burning to maintain productive growth for up to 10 years. Concerns about air quality will not permit the continued use of burning, however, with non-burning methods, the seed production period is too short to provide an economically sustainable operation. Finding an alternative method to cost ef ...

Marketing and Logistics System for Roundwood Component Kits and Materials
SBC: FOREST CONCEPTS LLC Topic: N/ARural communities in forested areas need to thin small diameter trees from overstocked stands. The smallwood does not have adequate market demand to support the cost of collection and delivery. This project explores the opportunity to market more smallwood to retail customers and urban markets by developing designs, plan sets, marketing and logistics systems.
