The Award database is continually updated throughout the year. As a result, data for FY24 is not expected to be complete until March, 2025.

Download all SBIR.gov award data either with award abstracts (290MB) or without award abstracts (65MB). A data dictionary and additional information is located on the Data Resource Page. Files are refreshed monthly.

The SBIR.gov award data files now contain the required fields to calculate award timeliness for individual awards or for an agency or branch. Additional information on calculating award timeliness is available on the Data Resource Page.

  1. Solar Blind MgZnO Photodetectors

SBC: AGNITRON TECHNOLOGY, INC.            Topic: A13AT006

This project address the fabrication of solar blind detectors from the MgZnO material system. Both MBE and MOCVD material growth techniques will be used for deposition of the required material layers. Simulation software we be used to aid in the design of the photodetector structure. Devices will be fabricated from the grown structures and their electrical and optical characteristics determined.

  2. Design Optimization and Analysis of Advanced Exhaust Systems

SBC: COMBUSTION RESEARCH & FLOW TECHNOLOGY INC            Topic: N14AT005

Historically, aircraft engines have featured relatively simple axisymmetric exhaust shapes with several moving parts; however, future engine exhaust systems are expected feature compact, sinuous ducts with complex non-axisymmetric shapes, fixed exit areas, thrust vectoring etc., constructed with a minimum number of moving parts. Their exhaust plumes are currently not well understood; however, LES ...

  3. A Multi-Tiered Lithium-ion Battery Thermal Fault Mitigation Architecture

    SBC: CREARE LLC            Topic: N14AT006

With the continued electrification of military systems, lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries are increasingly targeted for electrical energy storage due to their wide operating temperature range and exceptional energy density. However, Li-ion batteries operating in hostile thermal and mechanical environments typical of military aircraft are prone to catastrophic thermally-induced failures. Hazards inclu ...

  4. Practical Traveling Wave Parametric Amplifier for Quantum Computing and Mixed Signal Applications

SBC: SOLID STATE SCIENTIFIC CORPORATION            Topic: A14AT010

A collaboration between research engineers at Solid State Scientific Corporation and the University of MassachusettsBoston proposes the exploration of a new class of superconducting traveling wave parametric amplifier (TWPA) that exploits the large nonlinear inductance of a unique quantum device known as a superinductor. The nonlinear properties of the superinductor provide high gain of weak sign ...

  5. Improving the Life Expectancy of High Voltage Components Using Nanocomposite Surface Solutions

SBC: POLYK TECHNOLOGIES LLC            Topic: N14AT025

We propose to develop a multi-functional coating technology using a three-component nanocomposites to achieve excellent syperhydrophobicity, anti-icing, enhanced track-resistance, and high dielectric breakdown strenght. The coating will be compatible with current Navy existing VLF device materials and be ease of applications in outdoor field, and be long lasting requiring infrequent applications.

  9. Seabed Imaging System

    SBC: CREARE LLC            Topic: N14AT022

Acoustic imaging is the preferred modality for mine detection. However, acoustic images are noisy and difficult to interpret due to acoustic clutter, the interaction of sound with the seafloor, and potential penetration of sound into the sediment with subsequent reflection. Creare proposes to develop a Seabed Imaging System (SIS) capable of providing detailed information on both the topography and ...

  10. High Energy Laser (HEL) Analysis Tool with Experimentally Corroborated Diode-Pumped Alkali Laser (DPAL) Rate Coefficients

    SBC: CREARE LLC            Topic: MDA12T008

Proper design of Diode-Pumped Alkali Laser Systems (DPALS) is challenging because many interrelated processes impact their performance and critical kinetic rate coefficients are not well known. In response, our team is developing a comprehensive physics-based analysis/design tool, and experimentally determining key kinetic rate coefficients. The resulting product will be a user-friendly, high-fi ...
