Public Rights-of-Way Assessment Instrumentation to Determine Accessibility
SBC: BENEFICIAL DESIGNS INC Topic: 081FH2City planners and engineers need detailed assessments of public rights-of-way to evaluate existing conditions, determine compliance with draft accessibility guidelines, and plan reconstruction projects. Current assessment methods are inadequate and inefficient due to the time and resources required. This project will develop an automated public rights-of-way assessment process and the measuremen ...

Low Cost Fuel Grade Ethanol
SBC: COMPACT MEMBRANE SYSTEMS, INC. Topic: 88The membrane drying process for ethanol plants should be of great value in increasing capacity and/or reducing energy consumption for existing ethanol plants. We will manufacture modules of the novel membrane with a commercial partner. A pilot demonstration unit will be constructed and deployed at an actual ethanol plant for demonstrating the membrane process capabilities and advantages.

Electric Pyrogens and Systems for Safer In-line Inititation of Rocket Motors
SBC: Digital Solid State Propulsion, Inc Topic: MDA08045We will use our newly developed smart energetic materials to eliminate flame sensitive pyrogens and the bridge-wire connections for thermal ignition within initiators/squibs which will improve safety for Mil. Std. 1901A compliance. Unlike conventional materials, new pyrogen materials are insensitive to ignition by flame and so can not flame spread by impingement. However, new faster burning formu ...

Hardware Accelerated Super Resolution for MDA Interceptors
SBC: EM PHOTONICS INC Topic: MDA07013MDA is currently developing advanced interceptor technology for its BMDS. High-quality imagery is crucial to this effort for several purposes, including navigation, false-alarm/decoy identification, and estimation of position and speed of potential targets. Although high-resolution imaging systems are readily available, they require (1) power-hungry CMOS arrays (or FPAs) and (2) large-aperture o ...
