The Award database is continually updated throughout the year. As a result, data for FY24 is not expected to be complete until March, 2025.

Download all SBIR.gov award data either with award abstracts (290MB) or without award abstracts (65MB). A data dictionary and additional information is located on the Data Resource Page. Files are refreshed monthly.

The SBIR.gov award data files now contain the required fields to calculate award timeliness for individual awards or for an agency or branch. Additional information on calculating award timeliness is available on the Data Resource Page.

  1. Biologically Inspired Acoustic Direction Finding for Soldiers

    SBC: Antek            Topic: A04T013

We are proposing a helmet-mounted sound localization system that incorporates two subsystems, one that restores and enhances the soldier's natural hearing, and another that makes decisions on the acoustic scene and displays the information to the soldier. The system will integrate auditory processing models from a variety of biological sources to aid in detection and analysis.

  3. Nanoscale Chemical Analysis using Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (nano-LIBS)

SBC: APPLIED SPECTRA INC            Topic: A04T011

As nanotechnology fabrication develops internationally, the availability of tools for ensuring that materials and systems abide by their chemical design characteristics becomes essential. In order for nanotechnology to mature, diagnostic instruments must be developed to detect and analyze physical and chemical properties with spatial resolution much less than the dimensions of the nanostructures ( ...

  4. Emotion Management Orientation and Training Exercises (EMOTE)

    SBC: APTIMA INC            Topic: A08T002

Army leaders face a wide variety of emotionally charged situations. Success in dealing with these situations requires that Army leaders manage their emotions and those of others. Army leaders, however, receive relatively little training in this area. Neither the Army Leadership Field Manual (FM 6-22) nor the Psychology Research literature provides a great deal of guidance regarding the trainable ...

  5. Military Advisors Training System (MATS)

    SBC: APTIMA INC            Topic: A08T003

The United States provides experienced personnel to advise foreign military and security forces. Success in this critical role requires advisors to be more than just competent warriors. Unfortunately, there is a continuing gap between the degree of training, cultural, and interpersonal expertise that advisors need and the training available to prepare them for success. Aptima, Inc. has partnered w ...

  6. Nanocomposites with Independently Controlled Properties of the Thermoelectric Material for High Figure of Merit

SBC: Aspen Systems, Inc.            Topic: A04T007

Aspen Systems proposes to develop advanced nanocomposite materials to achieve high thermoelectric figure of merit by incorporating nanoparticles with high Seebeck coefficients within a high surface area semiconducting matrix with extremely low thermal conductivity and high electrical conductivity. In the proposed nanocomposite structure, we will achieve the high hot charge carrier generation effi ...

  7. Extreme Phase Change Materials for Soldier Microclimate Regulation

SBC: Aspen Systems, Inc.            Topic: A05T012

Aspen Systems and the Illinois Institute of Technology propose (IIT) to develop an advanced vapor compression miniature personal cooling system with integrated phase change material (PCM) for used by U.S. military soldiers. Aspen Systems has developed a unique miniature rotary compressor and successfully integrated the compressor in a battery powered personal cooling unit. In this program we wil ...

  8. General Interoperability Toolkit: Migrating Shipbuilding Interoperability Tools to Cross-Domain Functionality

SBC: ATLANTEC ENTERPRISE SOLUTIONS, INC.            Topic: OSD06SP3

One of the most significant challenges facing the Defense Industry today is the lack of interoperability between software applications. Weapons systems data is voluminous, complex, and distributed across many disparate applications. Typically, only a few of these applications are truly integrated and manual processes are required to synchronize data maintained across multiple systems. Users mus ...

  9. Biologically Inspired Acoustic Source Localization System

    SBC: Ausim, Inc.            Topic: A04T013

Situational awareness is a critical factor for the soldier in the field. An acoustic source localization system can greatly benefit the soldier by detecting threat and displaying its location. The goal of this proposal is to study a promising algorithm based on a biologically inspired technology and verify its ability to perform in various environments and with multiple sources. The proposed ...

  10. Minimalist Short-Range Wearable Network for Soldier Training

    SBC: Aware, Inc.            Topic: A05T028

Army warfighter training involves strenuous, demanding physical activity, often under sleep deprived conditions in the night-time woods, that poses non-negligible risks to trainees. Instructors need to keep track of trainees to know that they are OK, to coach them when necessary, and sometimes to keep them awake. The risks are exacerbated by the need to conduct training exercises under circumsta ...
