AbstractAtlantic Aerospace offers to define, develop and analyze a new spread spectrum code acquisition technique having breakthrough potential for decreasing the product of acquisition time and acquisition processor speed for acquisition of GPS signals relative to currently employed techniques. The basis for this claim already exists in results of the company's contract an dcorporately-funded research.In contrast to a serial search in which the time-Doppler uncertainty space is explored one cell at a time per correlation procesor, AAEC's technique is able to rapidly eliminate large fractions of the uncertainty region early in the acquisition process, thus markedly decreasing the amount of correlation work required to complete the acquisition. The greater the number of cells in the initial time-Doppler uncertainty, the greater the benefit to be accrued from the new method. The proposed technique makes us eof mult-rate filter banks and the discrete wavelet transform to achieve the solicitation goals.
