Abstract

A Phase I project to design and demonstrate the concept of a "high-speed laser scanning technology for the measurement" and reporting of the small fire arm scoring. Accuracy of the measurement is +/- 1 mm over an area of 30'x30' with a projectile velocity of up to 1,550 meter/second. The results of the Phase I program will provide crucial design guidelines for the construction of a full brassboard system to be demonstrated in Phase II. The potential post applications of the high-speed laser scanning impact scoring system can be found in defence industry, government/private research institutes, police departments and other law enforcement institutions across the country as well as private target practicing fields.
