Abstract
AZNA proposes a gain-switched Tm-doped fiber laser to generate flexible waveforms in the mid-IR spectral region. The proposal uses the most recent advances in high power fiber lasers and amplifiers to achieve high efficiency and high power. Generation of stable and reliable waveforms is achieved using an innovative pump scheme for the gain-switched Tm-doped fiber laser. The power conversion efficiency from pump diode to mid-IR waveform generation is as high as 25%. Integrated with a mid-IR optical parametric oscillator, the proposed system provides up to three wavelengths in the mid-IR. The design also allows fast tuning in wavelength as well as modulation frequency of the waveform.
