Abstract
Wilfred Baker Engineering, Inc. proposes to develop a shaped charge case that weighs significantly less than the traditionally-used metal case with performance comparable to metallic case shaped charges. The proposed case will house a shaped charge which will be suitable for clearance of anti-tank mines buried in surf zones, on the beach of amphibious assault landing sites and inland. The Phase I study will employ a combined analytical and experimental approach to assess concept feasibility. A plan will be formulated for optimization of the shaped charge case and finalization of development options. The successful effort of this program will be incorporated directly into the distributed explosives mine neutralization system (DEMS), in particular into the anti-mine munitions (AMM) of the system.
