AbstractIn meeting the needs of this Topic, Beacon will create technology that works across the spectrum of maintenance. The Maintenance Action Package is being designed to fit at the juncture of system automation and human interaction. The “Automation” refers to creating a highly flexible gathering of information and data that is contextual to the moment. It can include sensor data, equipment information, technical data, pointers to experts for help and work procedures. All of this information can be assembled and reassembled as needed. The human aspect is that this information is presented and used in such as way as to be useful and meaningful for many different aspects of maintenance; decision making, training and doing maintenance activities come to mind. A significant part of Beacon’s effort is to meet the needs of the Zumwalt Program for technical data management. The data necessary for a Work Package will reside in many different systems, with many different configurations. One of the sources of “new” data will be DDG 1000-specific content stored in an Extensible Markup Language (XML) repository within the Technical Data Manager. The data itself will be S1000-D Compliant and the Work Package will accommodate such data.
