Abstract
THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO COMPLETE DEVELOPMENT OF A REASONABLY PRICED, EXTENDABLE STAIR RAIL TO FACILITATE MOVEMENT OF OLDER PEOPLE AROUND THE HOME, PROVIDE SECURE STABLE SUPPORT FOR MOVEMENT ON STAIRS, AND MINIMIZE FALLS DOWN STAIRWAYS AND THE POSSIBLE DAMAGE WHEN FALLS DO OCCUR PHASE I WILL INCLUDE PRELIMINARY MARKET RESEARCH. THE SEVERITY OF THE PROBLEM WILL BE IDENTIFIED THROUGH STATISTICS, VARIOUS AUTHORITIES, AND INTERVIEWS OF ACCIDENT VICTIMS. PROMISING PROTOTYPES WILL BE FABRICATED, AND A PRELIMINARY BUSINESS PLAN TO MARKET, AND MANUFACTURE THE SYSTEM WILL BE ESTABLISHED. IN PHASE II, IT IS INTENDED TO PROCEED WITH COMPLETION OF THE DESIGN AND CONCURRENTLY ORGANIZE A MARKET RESEARCH PROGRAM.
