Abstract
NEW METHODS ARE NEEDED THAT RAPIDLY, ECONOMICALLY, AND EFFICIENTLY TREAT WASTEWATERS FOR REUSE OR DISPOSAL. ESTABLISHED WASTEWATER TREATMENT TECHNOLOGIES ARE EXPENSIVE AND CAN BARELY BE STRETCHED TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS FOR WATER REUSE IN A PLANT OR DISCHARGE UNDER ENVIRONMENTALLY ACCEPTABLE CONDITIONS. OXIDIZING ORGANIC POLLUTANTS IN SITU ON ELECTROCATALYSTS DRIVEN BY ALTERNATING CURRENT. A MIXED ELECTROCATALYST WILL BE USED WHICH MAY PROVE VERY EFFECTIVE FOR CATALYZING ELECTROOXIDATION OF A BROADISPECTRUM OF REFRACTORY ORGANICS.
