Abstract
THIS PROJECT FOCUSES ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF MIS SOFTWARE, TRAINING MATERIALS, AND OTHER PRINT MATERIALS TO SUPPORT A FAMILY-CENTERED CASE MANAGEMENT PROCESS FOR COORDINATING AND TRACKING SERVICES FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES AND THEIR FAMILIES ACROSS MULTIPLE PROVIDERS AS MANDATED UNDER PART H, PL99-457. A MAJOR THRUST OF THE PHASE I EFFORT WILL BE TO DETERMINE THE FEASIBILITY OF ADAPTING THE CENTER FOR RESOURCE MANAGEMENT'S (CRM'S) MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING (MIS-IL) TO ACCOMPLISH THE OBJECTIVES OF THIS RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT EFFORT. REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR DEVELOPING THE FOLLOWING PRODUCT COMPONENTS WILL BE DEFINED: 1) A COMPREHENSIVE DOCUMENTATION AND RECORD-KEEPING SYSTEM FOR IMPLEMENTING A FAMILY-CENTERED CASE MANAGEMENT PROCESS - RECORD-KEEPING FORMS, INDIVIDUALIZED FAMILY SERVICE PLAN (IFSP), AND OTHER PRINT MATERIALS; AND 2) MIS SOFTWARE AND SUPPORTING MATERIALS SUCH AS A USER MANUAL AND TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS MANUAL. IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT THE MAJOR USER AGENCIES FOR THESE PRODUCTS WILL BE COMMUNITY-BASED ORGINIZATIONS THAT INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAMS, PARENT CENTERS, EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAMS, SOCIAL SERVICE AND HEALTH SERVICE AGENCIES, AND ORGANIZATIONS THAT PROVIDE SERVICES ADDRESSING SPECIFIC NEEDS/DISABILITIES. THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT EFFORT WILL PROVIDE A STRUCTURE, TRAINING MATERIALS, AND TECHNOLOGICAL SUPPORT FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A FAMILY-CENTERED CASE MANAGEMENT PROCESS FOR COORDINATING AND TRACKING SERVICES TO CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES AND THEIR FAMILIES ACROSS MULTIPLE PROVIDERS.
