This Phase I R&D project will determine the feasability and commercial potential of a Data Services System designed to support district and school efforts to meet NCLB standards related to equity, continuous improvement, and accountability. The design incorporates: 1) a Data Use Framework representing a cohesive, innovative, and research-based approach for effectively structuring multiple uses of assessment data around essential questions; and 2) district and school access to high-level data system technology, CRM’s Socrates Data System, through an Application Service Provider (ASP) approach that supports the data management, data integration, data disaggregation, and data analysis functions essential to rigorous data use. The data services design supports a culture of rigorous data-driven decision-making, and cost effectively makes data warehousing technology available to districts/schools without requiring them to have the technical personnel needed to manage such an application.
