AbstractWe proposal the development of a protable, wireless, addressable device for simultaneously monitoring the physiological status of remotely located patients. The development of this device will facilitate more cost effective medical care, and as such promises to revolutionize the delivery of medicine. The improved ability to remotely monitor the vital signs of injured individuals using this device will save lives and improve resource allocation under emergency conditions. By providing emergency teams with remote access to an individuals' comprehensive physiological status more responsive health care can be provided. The device also promises to significantly lower the cost of health care by enabling remote physician monitoring of home bound patients. Anticipated Benefits: The proposed activity will naturally produce a commercial device for remotely monitoring patient physiological status. It has immediate applications for monitoring epilepsy patients, and for providing vital information from in-route emergency patients.
