AbstractThe Phase I work demonstrated real-time recognition and automatic learning ofgestures used by the Army. The proposed Phase II effort is focused on enhancingthis system by:1.Enhancing the Gesture Recognition System and creating a Software Development Kit(SDK). The gestures to be recognized include the Army gestures developed in thePhase I effort. This system will be integrated with the untagged hand and bodyrecognition system. The SDK will allow for easy use and expansion by programmersafter the Phase II effort is complete.2.Enhancing and integrating a method for automatic gesture learning into the SDK,thereby greatly enhancing the utility of the system.3.Developing a system for recognizing Army hand/body gestures for use in the LandWarrior Training Simulators as a military proof-of-concept system. Cybernetbelieves that developing a system that can recognize and use Army gestures fordevice control will help facilitate the use of gestures in other military activities.4.Developing a gesture controlled interface for self-service machines as acommercial proof-of-concept system. Cybernet believes that gesture interfaces willbe an important part of future general device interfaces. This effort will beperformed with support and input from Radigan and Radigan
