Abstract

Precision Combustion, Inc. is proposing to build on its successful 1 kW, single-soldier portable, JP-8 generator demonstration and develop 2 and 3 kW variants. The proposed 2 kW generator will weigh about half of the 2 kW MTG and the 3 kW variant will weigh about a third of the TQG. These will meet and improve on the STEP targets. A novel approach consisting of octane matching will be used to seamlessly operate lightweight commercial off the shelf generators on JP fuels. This will enable rapid transition to manufacturability and reasonably priced hardware. Generator performance meeting power quality and environmental MIL-SPEC requirements will be demonstrated via advanced prototypes.
