Abstract
It is proposed to extend PROPHET by integrating CLINSYS, our time-aware database system.CLINSYS time-stamps and archives data at the datum (attribute) level, rather than the traditional tuplelevel, which permits powerful time-queries. Both absolute and relative time are supported. Noveltime-cognizant impute rules allow interpolation between stored values. A set of special codes formissing data are handled by three-value logic. In Phase I we will (1) turn CLINSYS into a server, witha "Query Clinet" (a surrogate for Phase II Prophet) to generate CLINSYS tables from standardizedqueries; (2) convert these tables to PROPHET tables; and (3) perform concept development and systemsanalysis to extend PROPHET, particularly its Motif-based graphical user interface, towards full integrationwith CLINSYS. This analysis also includes consideration of alternatives for PROPHET/CLINSYSintercommunications.
