"CTD will develop and demonstrate an engineered composite material for use in cryogenic pressure vessels. This effort will provide a composite material that does not microcrack and has suitable properties. Candidate composite materials will be designed.Test laminates will be fabricated and tested for microcracking and helium permeation at cryogenic temperatures. The development of reliable, robust, and economical all-composite tanks for use at cryogenic temperatures will lead to reduced risk, increasedcapability, and lower costs for military and commercial space and launch vehicle programs."
