Phase I will provide the design of a proof-of-concept integrated analysis tool for space-based optical experiments and demonstrate its feasibility through a prototype of a specific experiment (MSX). The design will facilitate data/model comparisons and the modeling of end-to-end data flow and processing for a space-based experiment. Object-oriented analysis and design will be used to define the system and its prototype. We will use Khoros in Phase I for the graphical interface and assess its applicability for full system development in Phase II. The tool will consist of modules that define the following: simulated scenes, sensor characteristics, satellite downlink, ground-based data processing, visualization and analysis. SSGM, VISTA, and possibly PRISM (an SSGM sensor model), and Convert (MSX data calibration package) will be used as modules for prototyping.
