AbstractCornerstone Research Group Inc. (CRG) proposes to develop inexpensive temperature and humidity sensing devices for tracking cumulative exposure that require no power. Cost estimations show high volume production may drive cost to less than ten cents a sensor. The base technology will allow sensors to meet the needs of many specific scenarios with sensing periods ranging from minutes to years. CRG has significant experience in tailoring the properties of materials to meet the needs of a broad array of real-world applications. During this effort we will define an Over Exposure Unit (OEU) and demonstrate a repeatable means of detection. One or more prototype sensing devices will be fabricated to demonstrate feasibility. The overall program goal is to develop the capability to design and manufacture low cost cumulative temperature and humidity sensors for all applications enabling the Navy to purchase the sensors needed at the lowest possible cost.
