Abstract
Cornerstone Research Group Inc. (CRG) will investigate new techniques for efficient portable desalination devices with high product flow rates. CRG will utilize forward osmosis (FO) technology to increase the efficiency of current reverse osmosis (RO) powered devices. FO systems maintain several advantages over RO systems including passive desalination and minimal membrane fouling. By combining features from both RO and FO desalination devices, the effluent flow rate can be greatly increased. The proposing team''s track record of innovation of new materials positions CRG for successful implementation of a portable desalination device meeting the Army’s operational needs.
