Abstract
Crossfield Technology LLC and CG2, Inc./Quantum3D, Inc. propose the development of an advanced switching system that provides a tenfold increase in the performance of real-time physics-based scene generation systems. The Advanced Switching Technology for Scene Generation program will use streaming processors interconnected by Advanced Switching Interconnect (ASI) technology to provide supercomputer levels of performance for embedded applications at a price point normally associated with consumer systems. Crossfield Technology and CG2 are teamed to demonstrate physics-based scene generation using streaming processors interconnected by ASI technology. Crossfield Technology’s effort focuses on development of a full-mesh ASI bridge for the Cell Processor, and demonstration of an MDA application hosted on parallel Cell Processors interconnected by a dual-star and full-mesh ASI fabric. CG2’s effort complements Crossfield’s effort by demonstrating an MDA application using AMD Opterons and NVIDIA Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) in a dual-star ASI fabric.
