Abstract
THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROPOSED RESEARCH EFFORT IS TO EXPERIMENTALLY EVALUATE THE OPTICAL PROPERTIES OF CHEMICAL VAPOR DEPOSITED DIAMOND THIN FILMS WITH RESPECT TO ELECTROLUMINESCENCE IN THE UV AND BLUEGREEN SPECTRAL REGIONS. AS A RESULT OF SUCH EFFORTS WE WILL DETERMINE THE EXTEND TO WHICH DIAMOND THIN FILMS MAY BE USED AS LASING MEDIA AND ASCERTAIN THE FEASIBILITY OF DIAMOND BASED MICROLASERS.
