Abstract

CUBE Technology has created an extremely compact and efficient enclosed combustor dubbed a Micro-Furnace. These Micro-Furnaces have demonstrated an unprecedented operating range and have operated on fuels from hydrogen to alcohol to JP-8. This Micro-Furnace combustor is fast-starting and will burn less than 200gm of JP-8 fuel to deliver 400cc/minute of CO2 Mosquito attractant over 12 hours. In addition, this system will incorporate a small power converter driven by the Micro-Furnace to make it a miniature generator capable of powering the fan and light of a standard CDC trap. The system components required to develop this small generator/CO2 source are small and commercially available. The entire system will be much smaller than the batteries currently used for powering these traps and will require only JP-8 logistics fuel that is universally available military personnel worldwide.
