Abstract
This SBIR Phase I project will investigate an integration framework to enable the virtual prototyping of mechanical components, specifically for application to ISR's advanced spray cooling technology. The framework will accommodate an Automated Design, Analysis, and Manufacturing system currently under development at ISR by allowing the integration of advanced parametric CAD utilities, a suite of analysis applications, CAM software, Virtual Prototyping, Assembly, and Manufacturing Systems. The framework will be designed using object-oriented programming techniques, and will be open-architecture and expandable. The Phase I program will provide an object oriented analysis to decompose the problem domain into object types that represent the real world problem. Various applicable software standards will be evaluated for incorporation. The object-oriented framework will be implemented using the current software utilities in use at ISR. A demonstration will be conducted for a specific spray cooling system mechanical component. Phase II will expand the effort to incorporate all other spray cooling system components so that the complete system design, and the creation of virtual and mechanical prototypes becomes automatic from customer specific input and requirements. Phase III will see the implementation of the framework in the commercialization of spray cooling, and in the establishment of a service bureau to transfer turn-key systems utilizing the technology.
