Abstract
Under our Phase I contract, DE Technologies Inc. demonstrated that a small array of shaped charges can neutralize land mines at a safe standoff distance. While the delivery platform is under development under a separate program, DET's has shown that theconcept can fit within the payload volume and weight constraints and that all elements of the concept are technically feasible. A baseline sub-munition has been developed and is currently being tested. This sub-munition uses staff patented technologythat has been highly effective at neutralizing surface-emplaced and buried land mines, regardless of the mine's fuzing or explosive fill. Proposed herein under the Phase II is continued development of the sub-systems culminating in flight tests. Thisprecision mine neutralizer is ideally suited for other Army and humanitarian programs as well. The Future Combat System has a number of platforms and missions that this technology provides an ideal fit, such as GSTAMIDS or integration into the SUGV, Muleor UAV platforms. This work can also be adapted to meet the various needs of the humanitarian demining programs being operated around the world.Precision mine neutralization sub-system that is highly effective from remote standoffs. Ideally suited forincorporation into other systems, such as FCS or application to humanitarian demining activities.
