Abstract
THE RESULTS OBTAINED TO DATE BY VARIOUS AUTHORS INDICATE CLEARLY THAT NUMERICAL SOLUTIONS ARE MORE ACCURATE AND REQUIRE LESS COMPUTER TIME AND STORAGE WHEN GRID NODES ARE PROPERLY DISTRIBUTED. THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO DEVELOP A NEW METHODOLOGY FOR GENERATING SOLUTION ADAPTIVE GRIDS. OVER THE YEARS IT HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED THAT THE BEST ADAPTIVE STRATEGIES INVOLVE DIRECT CONTROL OVER THE GRID CELL SIZE. IN ADDITION, ADAPTIVE GRID PROCEDURE MUST ENSURE ENTANGLEMENT-FREE GRIDS AND BE EFFICIENT. THE ADAPTIVE GRID PROCEDURE DESCRIBED IN THIS PROPOSAL HAS ALL THREE ATTRIBUTES.
