Abstract
DBA SYSTEMS, INC. PROPOSES TO FABRICATE AN ENGINEERING MODEL OF A PC-BASED VIDEO MENSURATION SYSTEM FOR THE DETAILED HUMAN FACTORS ANALYSIS ASSOCIATED WITH MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATION. THE BASELINE FOR THIS SYSTEM WILL BE DBA'S OFF-THE-SHELF 626 VIDEO TRACKER THAT TRACKS VIDEO IMAGES AT REAL-TIME RATES (60 HZ). ENHANCEMENBTS WILL INCLUDE THE DEVELOPMENT OF REAL-TIME FITTING AND LATERAL POSITIONING ALGORITHMS ALONG WITH THE INCLUSION OF A VIDEO TAPE CONTROL INTERFACE. THE PROPOSED SYSTEM WILL BE EXTREMELY USER-FRIENDLY IN THAT IT USES A STANDARD GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE TYPICAL OF STANDARD MICROSOFT WINDOW 3.X. THE VIDEO MENSURATION SYSTEM WILL COLLECT DATA FROM THREE POINTS SIMULTANEOUSLY ON EACH VIDEO FIELD (60 TIMES A SECOND). THIS COLLECTED DATA WILL BE STORED ON HARD DISC FOR POST COLLECTION DATA ANALYSIS. THE PHASE I EFFORT WILL CONSIST OF DEVELOPING THE ALGORITHMS, IMPLEMENTING THEM IN AN ENGINEERING DEVELOPMENT MODEL OF THE PC TRACKER, DEMONSTRATION OF OPERATIONAL CONCEPT AND VALIDATION OF THE MATHEMATICAL MODELS.
