Abstract
The Embedded Sensor Trainer (EST) will train perishable aircrew cockpit skills relating to use of sensors onboard the Seahawk H-60 family of helicopters. EST will be embedded in the IMP/AAYK-14 Integrated Mission Processor (IMP) in the SH-60R Block II upgraded helicopter to train aircrew while deployed. EST is a multimedia training device featuring ground and air modes which include display of simulated FLIR imagery and symbology overlays on the Multi-Function Display (MFD), FLIR Performance Prediction Training, manual-mode ECM and ASW tactical procedures and trainer control graphics. The embedded trainer integrates into the IMP as a separate module alongside planned Avionics and Tactical Assistance programs. Phase I will result in a trainer design, to include instructional design, preliminary ADA software design and an interface design. Phase II will result in a demonstration of the prototype Embedded Sensor Trainer. Effective delivery of training is accomplished using 1379 Instructional System Design prescriptions.
