Abstract
The Department of Energy provides scientists, researchers, and the public with search engine access to high quality scientific and technical content. Because much of the content is highly technical in nature, many users require encyclopedia-quality background information. This project will develop and deploy software that integrates the best scientific and technical reference articles from Wikipedia into federated search applications. Commercial Applications and other Benefits as described by the awardee: Scientists and researchers will save time and thus money by being able to obtain high quality reference material from the same search engines that provide them with the more detailed documents. The technology will facilitate the cross-fertilization of ideas and accelerate the diffusion of knowledge.
