Abstract
THIS PROJECT WILL USE BAR CODE TECHNOLOGY TO COLLECT AND REPORT PATIENT SERVICE DATA IN NURSING HOMES. BY USING PORTABLE BAR CODE SCANNERS AND BAR-CODED SERVICE SHEETS (ATTACHED TO THE BED, WALKER/WHEELCHAIR), AIDES CAN REPORT ROUTINE SERVICES AND STATUS, E. G., USE OF RESTRAINTS, TURNING AND BATHING OF BED-RIDDEN PATIENTS, FREQUENCY OF AMBULATION. THE SYSTEM WILL GENERATE REPORTS FOR INCLUSION IN PATIENTS CHARTS, FOR PROFESSIONAL SUPERVISION, AND FOR ADMINISTRATIVE AND REGULATORY MONITORING.
