Abstract

Guidestar is using digital holographic imaging to acquire the active tracking images in an air-to-air high energy laser weapon system. In this Phase II program, Guidestar will implement the algorithms developed in the Phase I program and demonstrate the ability of holographic tracking to improve tracking performance while simultaneously reducing the required illuminator power. The Phase II demonstration is a hardware experiment in the laboratory that is traceable to flight requirements. In Phase II, Guidestar will also develop the high speed processing architecture and demonstrate the holographic tracking algorithm implementation with a frame rate and latency that supports high bandwidth tracking.
