Abstract
THE PROPOSED PROGRAM ADDRESSES THE DEVELOPMENT OF A THERMAL CONTROL COATING TO MAINTAIN ADVANCED COMPOSITE MATERIALS WITHIN A SPECIFIED TEMPERATURE RANGE. THE PRINCIPAL EFFORT WILL BE DEVOTED TO FORMULATING A MANUFACTURABLE, ATOMIC OXYGEN-RESISTANT SPACECRAFT COATING HAVING BOTH THE REQUISITE ALPHA S/EPSILON RATIO (=0.8) AND SPACE ULTRAVIOLETSTABILITY. EMPHASIS WILL BE GIVEN TO TAILORING ALPHA S/EPSILON EMPLOYING METAL AND METAL FLAKE PIGMENTS WITH AND WITHOUT ADDITIONAL PIGMENTS IN LOW-OUTGASSING BINDER SYSTEMS.
