Abstract
IN THIS PHASE I EFFORT, EDUCATION TURNKEY SYSTEMS, INC. WILL STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF INTEGRATING PUBLIC DOMAIN AND USER-SUPPORTED MICROCOMPUTER SOFTWARE WITH ADAPTIVE DEVICES TO ENHANCE THE ABILITY OF HANDICAPPED STUDENTS AND TEACHERS TO USE MICROCOMPUTER-BASED LEARNING. AS PART OF THIS EFFORT,TURNKEY WILL CONDUCT A NUMBER OF IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO ASSESS THE TECHNOLOGICAL, ECONOMICAL, AND ADMINISTRA TIVE FEASIBILITY OF SUCH AN APPROACH. SPECIFICALLY, THESE TASKS INCLUDE: 1. IDENTIFICATION OF PUBLIC DOMAIN, USER- SUPPORTED, AND SOME COMMERCIAL SOFTWARE PACKAGES WHOSE STRUCTURE AND OBJECTIVES ARE WELL SUITED TO MODIFICATION FORUSE WITH ADAPTIVE DEVICES; 2. DETERMINATION OF THE TYPES OF ADAPTIVE DEVICES WHICH ARE BEST SUITED TO INTEGRATION WITH MICROCOMPUTERS AND APPROPRIATE SOFTWARE; 3. AN ANALYSISOF BOTH THE SOFTWARE AND DEVICES TO SPECIFY HIGH PRIORITY MATCHES WHICH WILL SERVE AS THE BASIS FOR PHASE II PRODUCTS ;AND 4. IF EARLIER TASKS SUGGEST SUCH A CONCEPT IS FASIBLE, PREPARATION OF A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOR PHASE II PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND A PRELIMINARY PLAN FOR PHASE III MARKETING AND FURTHER DEVELOPMENT.
