Abstract
A program to develop biodegradable polymer batteries is proposed. The Phase I effort is directed at demonstrating the feasibility of a polymer electrolyte-based Li/0, battery in which the polymer electrolyte is biodegradable. The following tasks will be carried out. Task I: Preparation of polymer electrolytes from polymer hosts and Li salts in which the polymers are biodegradable. Task II: Electrochemical characterization of the electrolytes including the measurement of their conductivities and determination of their electrochemical stability windows. Task TTT: Demonstration of the feasibility of a Li/0, battery based on the identified polymer electrolytes.
