The development of a new generation of flexible and conformal power sources is critically needed to achieve the goals of a man-portable power source for the Objective Force Warrior. EIC proposes to develop and deliver a safe and flexible rechargeable Li-ion smart battery with a specific weight and volume energy density >200 Wh/kg and >400 Wh/l. A flexible and conformal battery pack will include a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery and a Battery Management Module. The charger design will be modular so that additional stations for battery charging can be readily added. The charger will be high-rate, enabling charging in under 2 hours. The flexibility of the battery pack design will allow it to conform to the body contour and to be integrated into the Scorpion/Objective Force Warrior chassis.
