Abstract
A new technology resistojet is proposed as the answer to significantly increasing the proposed as the answer to significantly increasing the propulsion, and thereby mission capability, of future small satellites less than 250kg. A unique resistojet design is presented which utilizes only a few components and which can be produced at low cost, while delivering very high thrust efficiencies. This new technology resistojet concept could replace existing low specific impulse cold gas nitrogen propulsion systems, while offering specific impulse performance that exceeds monopropellant hydrazine thruster systems, at a fraction of their cost, and with no propellant toxicity and ground integration safety hazard concerns.| Benefits: A high performance, low cost, non-toxic new technology resistojet propulsion system would provide commercial and government small satellite manufacturers with a substantial increase in mission capability and usefulness.|
